распределённая (децентрализованная) база данных, распределённая БДнабор логически связанных баз данных, находящихся на разных сетевых (или подсоединённых) компьютерах и работающих под управлением одной центральной СУБД (DBMS), которые выглядят для пользователя как единая БД. Целями создания и внедрения распределённых БД являются сокращение объёма пересылок данных по сети (различные пользователи могут обращаться к ближайшим частям БД, не мешая друг другу), повышение скорости обработки данных и надёжности системы.
